本组函电,译自《美国对外关系文件集》1927年第二卷。内容涉及1927年“四·一二”政变前后,美国当局对中国大革命局势的看法;对扩大武装干涉中国内政可行性的论证;利用南京事件交涉诱迫蒋介石集团叛变革命以及分化武汉国民政府等方面的情况。现予公布,供研究中华民国史和中美关系史参考。函电中的括号及注释,除标译者所注外,均为原编者所加。
This letter is translated from the United States Foreign Affairs Documents Collection, Volume 2, 1927. It covers the views of the U.S. authorities on the situation of the Great Revolution in China before and after the April 12 coup d’¶ 1927, the demonstration on the feasibility of expanding the armed intervention in China’s internal affairs, the use of the Nanjing incident to induce the Chiang Kai-shek clique to mutiny revolution and split the government of Wuhan’s national government Case. It is hereby announced that it serves as a reference for studying the history of the Republic of China and the history of Sino-American relations. The parentheses and comments in the letter, except the standard translator note, are the original editors added.
