2016年3月,传来喜讯,玉溪市滇剧院创作的大型滇剧《水莽草》入选国家艺术基金滚动资助项目,这一殊荣不仅极大地提升了剧院、剧种在全国的知名度和影响力,也为云南和玉溪的宣传文化工作争得了荣誉。一个市级院团,从1952年建院至今短短六十余载,就两次荣获中宣部“五个一工程奖”及“白玉兰”主角奖、集体奖、中国戏剧“梅花奖”、文化部“文华表演奖”、曹禺优秀表演奖、全国优秀地方戏展演(南方片区)优秀剧目奖、第十三届中国戏剧节优秀编剧、优秀导演、优秀表演及剧目奖等多个省级及国家级大奖。
