This translation excerpts a section of the book entitled “Military Culture - A Paradigm Shift” by U.S. Air Force Col. Karen O. Durnigne. The author examines the social changes in the U.S. military culture and explores how the United States The military culture is a struggle between military traditions and non-traditions, male-dominated paradigms or belief systems, and the paradoxical evolutionary military-cultural model characterized by egalitarianism and inclusiveness. This is a competition between old ideas and new ideas. The translator chooses the typical case of women in the fighting forces (women in war) to illustrate the differences between the paradigms and models in American military culture. In his book, Lieutenant Colonel Dunedin also examines the long-standing conflicts in the U.S. military culture. She suggested that the U.S. military should now begin the cultural paradigm shift once again - from the traditional exclusionary values of male soldiers A Conformable Transformation of Army Concept. The author emphasizes that the U.S. military must reduce its tendency toward separatism and xenophobia in its development. She proposed three strategies for implementing this paradigm shift (strategic deployment): changing the military’s dominant standards of exclusivity and inclusiveness regarding dominant “combat-masculine” standards; and proactively accepting Control the major social changes that are continuing; and accept the responsibilities of individuals and organizations for paradigm shifts. Pioneers of paradigm shift must particularly favor a culture that is inclusive and egalitarian. Colonel Duneni also stressed that the high-level military commanders in the United States are the best catalysts for the transformation of the U.S. military paradigm --- they are real pioneers who can institutionalize a compatible cultural paradigm. Colonel Dunen made the following conclusion: If the United States hopes its military will become a mirror of American society, it undoubtedly will accept a compatible cultural paradigm.
