This paper summarizes and reviews the progress in the field of organic polyoxometalates (POMs) organic-inorganic hybrid materials, including POM organic or organometallic derived hybrid materials, charge transfer (CT) salts and organic-inorganic composite membranes. POM organic or organometallic derivatized hybrid materials fall into four categories, namely (1) the ligand acts as a counter cation, (2) the ligand directly coordinates with the POM framework, (3) the ligand coordinates with the hetero-metal, and ) Organometallic as a ligand. In addition, POMCT hybrid materials are also described herein which contain different organic p-electron donors such as substituted amides, aromatic amines or electron rich tetrathiafulvalene (TTF), bis (ethylene dithio) tetrathio Fulvairene (BEDT TTF or ET) and ferrocene; and POM loading and electrochemical growth. Finally, the prospects for the rational synthesis and potential applications of these hybrid materials are prospected
