Under Trump’s policy of America First, changes of the situation in East Asia, increased demands from Japan to expand overseas markets, and remarkable early results of the Belt and Road initiative, Sino-Japanese relations have shown improvement since the spring of 2017, and Japan’s attitude towards the Belt and Road initiative has also changed. The atmosphere of the docking cooperation between China and Japan around the Belt and Road has warmed up, and began to enter a pragmatic discussion and preliminary cooperation stage. In October 2018, Prime Minister Abe officially visited China, the two countries signed more than 50 agreements on third-party market cooperation. China and Japan will gradually expand cooperation in the fields including infrastructure, finance, logistics, energy and environmental protection, industrial upgrading, mod agriculture, and e-commerce. In the process of promoting the Belt and Road construction and strengthening the cooperation between China and Japan in third-party market, there will be some challenges in the future, such as interference from US factors, unstable Sino-Japanese relations, institutional differences between the two countries, uncertainty in third-party market, and the complicated and volatile intational situation, which requires China and Japan to work together to overcome difficulties and obstacles, to promote the sound operation of Sino-Japanese relations, to seek common ground while reserving differences in cooperation, to work together to promote the development and prosperity of the region, and to build a community of human destiny.
