贵州文化如同复调音乐,并非是单色的,而是多彩的;贵州文化又是一体的,即在各民族互相交往中形成的你中有我、我中有你的多元文化。文化的复调,是从“复调音乐”中借用“复调”一词的内涵发展而来。一个国家或者一个民族的文化其实如同复调音乐,并不是由一个主旋律构成,而是由许多独立的旋律相互交往而成。每一种文化并不是单一的,而是多元的,因之,可称为民族文化的复调。中国文化的产生和形成本身就是复调式的。1988年秋,费孝通在香港中文大学作特纳(Tanner)讲演,发表了《中华民族的多元一体格局》
Guizhou culture is like polyphonic music, not monochromatic, but colorful; Guizhou culture is one with each other, that is, you have me in the interaction among different ethnic groups, and I have your multi-culture. Cultural polyphony is developed from the connotation of “polyphony” borrowed from “polyphony music”. The culture of a country or a nation is like a polyphonic music. It is not composed of one main theme but of many independent melodies. Each culture is not a single, but plural, therefore, can be called a polyphonic national culture. The emergence and formation of Chinese culture itself is polyphonic. In the autumn of 1988, Fei Xiaotong delivered a speech at the Chinese University of Hong Kong on Tanner and published “The Multi-dimensional Structure of the Chinese Nation”
