The greatest contribution to China's industrialization should belong to Chinese workers. Three years ago, Chinese workers were named “People of the Year” by Time magazine in the United States and four women workers posted on the cover of the magazine as their representatives. This general formulation does not help to understand the complexities of the Chinese workers. Two decades before and after New China experienced two different modes of production, the connotation of the term “worker” has undergone tremendous changes. In order to deepen the discussion, many scholars have introduced the concept of “new worker”, but this concept has not yet been standardized. For the convenience of discussion, the topic adopts the narrow concept of “new worker”, that is, the pass
