小泛素样修饰蛋白(small ubiquitin-like modifier,SUMO)修饰属于真核基因表达中翻译后的加工过程,类似泛素化,其结果也是在修饰蛋白C端Gly残基和底物蛋白Lys的ε-氨基之间形成一个异肽键。该过程参与了细胞内的一系列生理活动,如调控转录因子转录活性、参与维持基因组完整性和DNA修复、调节蛋白的核浆转运、调节蛋白质相互作用、调控细胞膜部分离子通道活性、调控细胞周期等。近年来的研究发现,SUMO修饰(或称SUMO化)参与了缺血性脑损伤。它可能通过调节细胞凋亡,从而对损伤后的神经元发挥一定的保护作用。
