杨柄同志的《〈马克思列宁主义文艺和美学百科全书〉初步设想》一文,是作为一种设想和讨论在本期刊登出来的。作者来信说,多年来就思考着马列文艺理论工具书如何编法的问题,并说“《文艺争鸣》使这一倡议得以问世,实为一大功德,感激者将不会止于作者一人了!”现在,研究马列文艺和美学理论,研究如何建树具有中国特色的社会主义文艺理论,已经成了人们关心的热点问题本刊意在通过这篇文章,开阔思路。编《百科全书》也好,研究马列文论体系也好,阐发马列文论中的基本问题也好,都将促进对马列主义文艺思想的坚持和发展,希望读者和作者们在这方面多提供稿件。本刊第一期曾发表了李思孝同志的《要实事求是地研究列宁文艺思想》,对杨柄同志编写的《列宁论文艺与美学》一书提出了一些批评性的意见。为了贯彻党的“双百”方针,我们事先曾给杨柄同志去信,请杨柄同志写不同看法的文章。杨柄同志回信认为,在学术刊物上发表学术争鸣的文章是符合党的百家争鸣方针精神的,并说“你已经在十月十三日专为此事写来一信,打通招呼了,我已经感激不尽了。现在你又寄来专信并附批评稿清样,我更加感激了。”表示手头正忙于别的著述,写与李思孝文章的商榷稿之事,“眼下尚无此计划”,随后应邀寄来了思考多年的本期这篇《初步设想》一文。本刊一贯坚待在四项基本原则的前提下开展百家争鸣,以活跃理论研究,推动理论建树。我们刊登杨柄和李思孝在研究马列文论方面不同见解的文章,都是出于这个目的。当然在刊物倡导的共同方向和目标下,有些争鸣文章中出现的这样或那样的偏颇甚至失误,只好文责自负了。即或这样,也要通过进一步的争鸣和讨论,得以正确解决。
