对兄妹矛盾的书写贯穿于英国剧作家约翰.韦伯斯特的重要剧作《白魔》与元杂剧《灰阑记》的情节安排、人物塑造、主题思想与伦理内涵之中,是实现对两剧的总体认识与客观评价无法忽视的内容。本文通过比照分析《白魔》中的弗莱米尼奥与维托利娅、《灰阑记》中的张林与张海棠两对兄妹间的矛盾,从近代早期英国与元代中国女性的不利处境与文人的困厄等方面发掘了他们之间因名誉与经济问题而起的矛盾冲突的根源。
