毕节,地处贵州高原屋脊,古代是夜郎文明、水西文化繁盛之境,如今是我国西部大开发拉开序幕的地方。1988年,时任贵州省委书记的胡锦涛同志亲自倡导,并报经国务院批准,建立了毕节“开发扶贫、生态建设”试验区。从此,毕节踏上了探索科学发展的新征程。2011年,国务院批复同意撤销毕节地区设立地级毕节市。
Bijie is located on the ridge of plateau in Guizhou. In ancient times, Yelang civilization and water-west culture flourished. Now it is the place where the western development in our country kicked off. In 1988, Comrade Hu Jintao, then secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee, personally advocated and submitted the approval of the State Council to set up a pilot zone called “Developing Poverty Alleviation and Ecological Construction” in Bijie. Since then, Bi Jie embarked on a new journey to explore the scientific development. In 2011, the State Council approved the withdrawal of Bijie, a prefecture-level city set up in Bijie.
