History will remember this moment: On August 24, 1999, a bell suspended for nearly a century in front of the administrative building of the No. 6 Cotton Textile Factory in Wuhan City (referred to as “Six Cotton”) across from the Wuhan River shut down. Sixty-five cotton mills with a history of 85 years and once had brilliant achievements were declared bankrupt by Wuhan Intermediate People’s Court. After the Wuchang tax branch of the inventory, six cotton owed taxes 57,700,000 yuan, however, the recourse is zero. Now, six months after the bankruptcy of Six Cotton has passed for more than six months. As the first case in Wuhan City where the tax system was sued by the court to execute the tax arrears of bankrupt enterprises, the Six Cotton phenomenon still deserves serious study and reflection by the tax authorities and other relevant parties.
