水赤链游蛇Sinonatrix annularis(Hal-lowell)的药用始载《本草纲目》,称之为水蛇,载云“主治消渴烦热、毒痢”。据考证,《本草纲目》所载之水蛇即为游蛇科游蛇属水赤链游蛇。水赤链游蛇的药理作用研究,报告了其具有抗炎、镇痛作用。为了进一步开发利用水赤链游蛇药用资源,探明其主要药用器官:蛇胆、蛇油(脂肪体)、睾丸等药用资源的蕴藏量,我们于1994年进行了水赤链游蛇药用器官资源
