Fiers et al. At Ghent University in Belgium conducted a study on whether they can enhance the immunogenicity of influenza A virus membrane intrinsic protein M2 to make it a vaccine. The M2 protein is smaller and contains 97 amino acids. The amino acids of the M2 extracellular part of the first influenza virus strain isolated in 1933 did not change compared with the most recently sequenced virus.
