Objective To study the effect of medical complications on functional recovery and post-stroke death in acute stroke patients. Methods BI, mRS at discharge and percentage of NIHSS decreased at discharge were evaluated in 619 acute stroke patients and their mortality was recorded. Analysis of the differences in the prognosis of two groups of patients with no medical complications. Results ① The percentages of NIHSS decreased in patients with complications were lower than those without complications (P <0.01). The patients with discharge had lower daily living ability at discharge and at 6 months after discharge (P <0.01), and the disability index was higher (P <0.01). (2) Patients with complications had higher mortality than those with no complications (P <0.01). Conclusions Post-stroke medical complications not only affect the functional recovery of patients with acute stroke, but also affect the post-stroke mortality.
