氟素是自然环境中分布甚广的元素之一。它对机体的影响是多方面的,如水源、饮食习惯和工业污染等等,它对牙齿和骨骼的形成起着重要的作用。氟中毒的主要表现是出现氟牙症和氟骨症,应因地制宜地制定各地的适宜的水氟含量,由于氟化物的应用日益增多,氟中毒的问题已是世界上许多工业地区最重要的中毒问题之一。防治方法是调整水氟量;多吃含有丰富蛋白质、维生素和钙盐的食物,以促进机体的正常代谢和提高机体的抵抗力;局部涂氟予防龋齿等。
