(1) Titanium roof The earliest titanium roof in the world was the roof of the Early Aventure Shrine completed by Toho Titanium Company in December 1972. A 0.3mm thick titanium plate was used. The area was approximately 150m~ 2. Nippon Shrine is located in the waterfront area, close to Beppu Hot Springs, and has a humid climate. Therefore, it has used titanium with excellent corrosion resistance as its roof. The roof is now more than 20 years old. It is different from the original appearance when it was just constructed, and its surface gloss is dim. The light is purple, and the main part of the color changes slightly (because titanium is extremely corrosive, it is estimated that it may be caused by scale), but the intensity remains the same. With regard to changes in color, it is necessary to further scientific investigation as the world’s first titanium roof The change in appearance may not be too long, but it is still a valuable cultural asset in the history of architectural science and technology. Let us wait and see what changes will take place in the future.
