First, the founding background and activities before 1980 The predecessor of the Industrial Genetics Committee of the International Geographical Union was the Industrial Geographic Working Group decided to be established by the 22nd Council of International Geographical Union. Dr. E. Hamilton of the United Kingdom was invited as chairman. In September 1974, the first meeting was held in the United Kingdom. Thirty geographers from 16 countries attended the seminar. They focused on two topics of research on industrial mobility and industrial geography. The second conference was held in West Druper in 1976 with more than 40 participants from 16 countries. The dissertations and discussions focused mainly on (1) the spatial structure of industrial organizations, (2) industrial mobility and regional adaptability (3)
