This article discusses the notion of entropy and redundancy and gives the results of redundancy for six different languages based on available frequency data. The results show that the magnitude of the redundancy based on the frequency of two-letter combinations in different languages varies greatly. This article also discusses the significance of these calculations for encoding passwords.
