70年前,一位年轻人毅然抛下“东洋”安逸的生活和似锦的前程,回到水深火热的中国。在此后的岁月里,他把青春和才华无私地献给了祖国的科研、教育事业,并以杰出的成就和高风亮节成为几代人追崇的楷模。他就是著名的数学家、教育家苏步青。70年后的今天,在第17个教师节之际,苏老迎来了百岁华诞,本刊特邀苏老秘书王增藩教授撰写此文,披露苏老关心、支持中小学教育的点滴事迹,一是表达我们对苏老的敬意和祝福,二是期望苏老热爱祖国、热爱教育事业的精神火炬在基础教育界永不熄灭。
Seventy years ago, a young man resolutely dropped the cosmopolitan life and bright future of “Toyo” and returned to plumbing China. In the years to come, he dedicated his youth and talent to the scientific research and education in the motherland and has become a model of generations to come by his outstanding achievements and high ethos. He is a famous mathematician and educator, Su Buqing. Today, 70 years later, on the occasion of the 17th Teacher’s Day, Su-la has ushered in a centennial birthday. We have invited Prof. Zeng-fan Wang, the Soviet secretary, to write this article to disclose the concern and support of the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union in the primary and secondary education. One is to express our respect and blessing to the Soviet Union and the other is to expect the spiritual torch of Soviet Union who loves the motherland and who loves education will never go out of school.
