构建社会主义和谐社会,是我们党从全面建设小康社会、开创中国特色社会主义事业新局面的全局出发提出的重大任务。社会和谐首先是思想的和谐,而思想和谐的前提又是思想解放,只有不断解放思想,以与时代合拍的新思想新观念来打开和谐社会建设屏障,保持创造的活力和蓬勃的生机,才能把和谐社会建设不断推向前进。历史经验表明,每一次经济社会的大发展,首先需要思想的大解放,新一轮思想解放即是和谐社会建设的动力源。因此,解放思想本身不是目的,更不是口号。而是要与发展实践相结合,实实在在落实在工作上,落实到推动经济发展、促进社会和谐上来,切实着力改善和保障民生,努力使发展成果惠及广大人民群众。
