I want to talk about the first question of the meeting. “Reviewing the course of the development of socialist art in our country and summarizing our experience.” This issue is very important. Because, do not recognize yesterday, it is difficult to grasp today and tomorrow. The first is how to view the revolutionary art of the previous decades during the “Cultural Revolution.” One opinion holds that despite the “leftist” mistakes made in the first 17 years of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it is still a glorious course. Another view is that “there has been a long-term rigid and stagnant single-decade rule of the art scene.” In his other sentence, “... the tragic fate of becoming a tool.” (“Artists Newsletter”, No. 6, 1991) Another comrade made the same remark: “Chinese culture and the arts in the In a long period of nearly half a century, it has plunged into a trough to lose its vitality and creativity. ”And to remonstrate people:“ If we do not reflect on this reality, it will greatly hinder the construction of modern culture. ”(Art Research, 1989, p. season2)
