With the reorganization of international research projects, the United States funds for scientific research vessels can not be put in place. Recently, the United States “joint courageous number ” scientific research ship arrived in Busan, South Korea, is an important milestone in scientific drilling research. On September 30, the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP), a research project to extract geologic cores from the seabed in the past decade, is about to end its mission. The next day, it will be reworked, enabling a new title and blueprint for another decade. However, the old problem still exists: how to pay for what may be the most successful international cooperation program to date. The future of the “Union Promise” is particularly worrying, which has also caused some panic-stricken geoscientists because of their research has to rely on the ship. Over the past decade, the ship has become a scientific marine drilling
