According to a rough calculation, in the second quarter of 2009, China may contribute as much as two percentage points of the increase in global output adjusted for inflation at an annualized rate. As the contraction in other parts of the economy slows, the rebound in China’s economy alone is enough to make global gross domestic product (GDP) for the first time since last summer, a slight positive growth.
