定义什么叫文献数据库?广义地说,所有以文献为信息源而产生的计算机可读数据的集合,都可以叫做文献数据库。但由于有书目数据与文摘索引数据之分,制作部门又不一样,书目机读数据的集合,习惯上叫做书目数据库,因而文献数据库一般指文摘索引机读数据的集合。由来本世纪60年代,美国一些著名的文摘索引刊物CA、BA、EI等,相继采用计算机辅助编辑排版,从而产生机读数据的集合。后来发现可以用计算机直接检索这些数据,比手工检索效果更好。于是,这些印刷型的文摘索引刊物又有了另一种版本形式,即机读型,也叫做电子出版物。我
