To examine the relationship between local recurrence and distant metastases in breast cancer patients and to explore their possible explanations and the role of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the authors reviewed and analyzed patients with breast cancer who were admitted to the Gustave Roussy Institute from January 1954 to December 1975.
