抗日战争时期,随着中国东部和中部大部分地区相继沦陷于日寇之手,国民政府不得不西迁重庆。与此同时,中国的反法西斯盟国的驻华大使馆也纷至沓来, 落户渝州。为了更有效地团结一切可团结的国际国内力量,共同反对日本帝国主义,中共中央专门在重庆成立了以周恩来为首的中共南方局。在此期间,周恩来等人积极地开展对英美驻华大使的统战工作,取得了显著的成绩。
During the period of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Nationalist government had to move westward to Chongqing with the fall of most parts of eastern and central China into the hands of the Japanese invaders. In the meantime, embassies of China’s anti-fascist allies in China also came in a stream and settled in Yuzhou. In order to unite with all other unite forces at home and abroad and oppose Japanese imperialism more effectively, the CPC Central Committee established the Central Bureau of Southern China headed by Zhou Enlai. During this period, Zhou Enlai and others actively carried out the United Front work against ambassadors of the United States and China and achieved remarkable results.
