新加坡《华文》课本是供华文中学四学年制使用的,共分八册,分供八学期教学的需要。这套课本选材的依据是“激发爱国思想、人道思想、民主思想、科学思想,认识东方人的伦理观念及其文化价值。”(华文课本“编辑说明”)教材选文以文学作品为主。其中所选的中国古代诗词曲以及现代诗歌占有相当的比重,因为新加坡语文学界认为,唐诗宋词是中国最好的文学遗产的一部分,也是全世界文学宝库中的珍品。其中有很多篇章,即使在今天看来,也还是非常成功的杰作。
The “Chinese” textbook for Singapore is for the four-year system of Chinese-language middle schools. It is divided into eight volumes for the purpose of teaching eight semesters. This textbook is selected on the basis of “inspiring patriotic thinking, humane thinking, democratic thinking, scientific thinking and understanding the ethical concepts of Asians and their cultural values.” (Chinese textbook “Editing Notes”) Textbooks are mainly written in literature. The selected ancient Chinese poetry and poetry as well as modern poetry occupy a considerable proportion, because the Singaporean literary community believes that the Tang poetry and Song Ci is part of China's best literary heritage, but also treasures of the world's literary treasure house. Many of these chapters, even today, are still very successful masterpieces.
