典籍英译是翻译学科的一个新的分支,随着我国国力增强,国际影响力的提高,越来越多的学者专家开始意识到其由于必要性和不同于现代白话文的行文方式,以及其丰富的文化负载等特殊性,关于典籍英译的研究越来越受到重视。文章从《墨子.兼爱(下)》(节选)入手,从文义层面,文化层面,文风层面对其现有三种译文进行比较分析,试图讨论典籍英译的特征和应对策略。也希望借此机会让更多人来关注《墨子》英译研究。
English translation of classic books is a new branch of translation science. With the improvement of China’s national power and international influence, more and more scholarly scholars are beginning to realize that due to the necessity and the mode of writing which is different from the modern vernacular Chinese, Cultural load and other special characteristics of the English translation of books on the more and more attention. This article starts with “Mozi and Ai Ai” (excerpt), compares and analyzes the three existing translations from the aspects of literary, cultural and literary styles, trying to discuss the characteristics and coping strategies of the classic English translation. Also hope to take this opportunity to let more people pay attention to “Mozi” English translation studies.
