20世纪初,一股声势浩大的文学浪潮席卷欧美大陆。美国诗歌也发生了重大的演变,以破竹之势对历史悠久的传统文学进行了猛烈的冲击。然而,美国现代主义诗歌的新风貌不是一种孤立或自发的文学现象,它与19世纪末以来的西方文化大背景以及英美文学的迅速发展和演变有着密切的联系。本文从东方诗歌美学思想和技艺的融入这一角度对意象派的诞生,庞德的诗艺成熟等方面探悉美国现代主义诗歌1910～1922年的发轫,透视美国现代主义诗歌的特征。
At the beginning of the 20th century, a vast wave of literature swept through Europe and the United States. American poetry has also undergone a major evolution, with a drastic impact on the long history of traditional literature. However, the new style of American modernist poetry is not an isolated or spontaneous literary phenomenon. It is closely related to the background of western culture since the late 19th century and the rapid development and evolution of British and American literature. This essay explores the development of American modernist poetry from 1910 to 1922 and analyzes the features of American modernist poetry from the perspective of the birth of the Imagist School and the maturity of poetry by Pound.
