Paul D. Boyer, John E. Walker and Jens C. Skou share the 1997 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their outstanding contributions to enzymatic studies of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) metabolism. Boye was born in Provo, Utah, USA, in 1918 and received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1943. He was a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles from 1963 to 1989, Institute in 1990 by the school chemistry and biochemistry department honorary title, in 1970 was elected to the American Academy of Sciences, in 1974 by the University of Stockholm honorary doctorate, in 1989 by the American Society of Biochemistry and molecular biology Rose Award ( Rose Award, now a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.
