如画概念诞生于18世纪的英国,并且在20世纪80年代重新被西方环境美学家所关注。但是经过两个世纪的演变,今天的环境美学家对于如画的理解,已与18世纪英国经验主义美学家有着天壤之别,却与中国古典美学的如画概念有相似之处。中西美学对如画概念的不同理解,会引起两种非常不同的后果。
The concept of picturesque was born in England in the 18th century and was re-focused by Western environmental aesthetics in the 1980s. However, after two centuries of evolution, today’s environmental esthetician’s understanding of picturesqueness differs greatly from that of 18th-century British empirical aestheticians but shares similarities with the picturesque concept of Chinese classical aesthetics. The different understandings of Chinese and Western aesthetics to the concept of pictures give rise to two very different consequences.
