新闻事实主要是通过对当事人和新闻人物的访问来获得的。在采访过程中,记者往往自觉或不自觉地以非语言符号,如目光、表情、躯体的运动等影响被采访者。很难想象一个衣冠不整、随地吐痰的记者会赢得一位优秀护士的好感;也很难想象一位严谨的科学家会对一个举止轻佻、油口滑舌的记者畅谈自己是如何严谨治学的。一旦被采访者对记者产生厌恶感,记者的采访就注定要失败。所以美国的新闻学者麦尔文·曼切尔说
News fact is mainly obtained through the interview with the parties and news people. In the interview process, journalists often consciously or unconsciously non-verbal symbols, such as eyes, facial expressions, physical movement, etc. affect the interviewee. It is hard to imagine a good-natured, spitting journalist who would win an excellent nurse; and it is hard to imagine a serious scientist telling a cautious, talkative reporter about how he was rigorously educated.
