The relationship between esophageal pH and intragastric pH and the relationship between acid and alkali exposure and Barrett’s esophageal complications were investigated by measuring the changes of esophageal and gastric pH in the lower esophageal Barrett’s esophagus. Methods: All subjects underwent primary endoscopy and histologically confirmed Barrett’s esophagus. Twenty-six patients with Barrett’s esophagus were divided into two groups: 16 patients without complications, 8 patients each, aged 59 ± 15 years and Barrett’s esophagus 5.9 ± 2.4 cm in length; 10 patients had complications including 6 males and 4 females
