1993年前后,河南省西峡县15个乡镇约80平方公里的土地上相继发现、出土了数千枚恐龙蛋化石,此前,世界范围内仅发现了500枚恐龙蛋化石。大量恐龙蛋化石在西峡的集中露面,经媒体报道后,迅即引起国内外科学界的强烈反响。《科技日报》将其评为“93’世界十大科技新闻”之一,众多科学家称其为“世界第九大奇迹”。此后,恐龙骨骼化石又频频在西峡“露面”,且在一枚奇特的恐龙蛋化石里检测出恐龙的遗传基因DNA,这个被媒体愈炒愈热的弹丸小县,成了极具吸引力和诱惑力的神秘“恐龙部落”,引来大批外来者到此观光考察或搜奇猎异。一些不法之徒更是打起了极具科研和收藏价值的恐龙蛋、恐龙化石的主意,干起了盗掘倒卖、走私犯罪的勾当。为保护造物主经亿万年孕育才奉献给我们的这些“国宝”,在西峡“恐龙部落”遗址乃至更广阔的地域,爆发了一场旷日持久的“护蛋”与“倒蛋”之战。这场正义与邪恶的战斗,至今仍在继续
