重庆市果树研究所是我国建所最早的四个果树研究所之一.创建于1937年7月,当时名为四川省园艺试验场,后几经易名,至1977年8月定名为四川省农业科学院果树研究所.1997年5月重庆直辖,该所划归重庆,定为现名.所址位于重庆市江津西郊.建国以来,该所有较大的发展,现设有常绿、落叶、贮藏加工、综合技术开发四个研究室和两个科研实验场及一个技术开发有限公司.现有在职职工219人,有专业技术人员79人,其中研究员5人、副研究员12人、中级技术人员31人,形成了一支人才结构合理、科研实力较强的科技队伍.在“八五”全国农业科研综合评估中,被农业部授予“合格研究所”.建所以业,先后开展了100多个果树及蔬菜重点项目的研究,以果树良种选育、引进和优质高产栽培技术与理论的研究以及果实后生理与贮藏加工期研究为重点,1987年以来,先后获科技成果80多项,其中获国家、部、省成果奖的有“甜橙优良品种锦橙的选育、鉴定与推广”、“甜橙优良砧木枳的选择与利用”、“四川优良梨品种—金花梨”、“柑桔优质高产栽培技术及其生理研究”、“新垦殖果园土壤熟化途径与技术研究”、“四川果树资源调查、整理与应用”、“四川和重庆柑桔无病毒良种苗木繁育技术及体系研究”、“甜橙高接换种及丰产技术示范推广”、“四川桃
