1979年3月下旬,中国福利会儿童艺术剧院带着新创的儿童剧《童心》来到北京参加建国30周年献礼演出。一到北京,我就打电话向剧院创办人宋庆龄报到。她很高兴地说:“我的剧院来了,我要看第一场演出。”并且要我第二天就去看她。次日下午,在她寓所的小客厅里见到她。十多年没有和她见面了,此刻,熟悉的形象,就在眼前,熟悉的声音,就在耳边,我有千言万语,真不知从何说起。她已86岁的高龄,仍然是这样的美丽,说话仍然是那样从容,节奏明快、思路清晰,简短、准确的用语,使我想起30多年前我第一次见到她的情景。她关切她创办的剧院,她关切她培养起来的人,她更关切那些成千上万的小观众,十年没有看戏,他们有什么反映?我都如实回答了有关剧院的事和人的问题。她有时高兴,有时忧虑,有时愤慨。至于观众嘛,我说“他们看我们演出的《雷锋》之后,孩子说,我们还不知道世界上有一个专为我们孩子演戏的剧院”。直到太阳偏西的时候,我要汇报的主要的都说了,她也不想再问什么了,沉默了
In late March 1979, the China Welfare Association Children’s Art Theater came to Beijing to attend the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with a newly created children’s play “innocence”. When I arrived in Beijing, I called to report to the theater founder Soong Ching Ling. She was pleased to say, “My theater is here, I’m going to watch the first show.” And I’m going to see her the next day. The next afternoon, I saw her in her small living room.
