永定河畔的廊坊,是北京的南大门,也被称为“北京的后花园”。当年,义和团痛击八国联军的“廊坊大捷”曾名扬天下。而今这座伴随着改革开放而崛起的新兴城市,在构建环渤海经济圈的运动中,正在起着举足轻重的作用。在“绿我中华”的号召下,廊坊的防沙治沙、造林绿化又获得了建设部颁发的“中国人居环境范例奖”的殊荣。“北京的后花园”在无数双默默耕耘的手中变得愈加郁郁葱葱,生气勃勃。在永定河畔生活工作的王玉祥,正是这样一个在植树绿化和防沙治沙中涌现出来的平凡英雄。
