(本刊综合报道)西藏地方政府和上层反动集团,违反西藏人民的意志,背叛祖国,勾结帝国主义,纠集叛匪,劫持达赖喇嘛,公然发动武装叛乱。为了维护祖国统一和民族团结,国务院已经发布命令,解散策动叛乱的西藏地方政府,由西藏自治区筹备委员会代行地方政府职务,并责成人民解放军西藏军区彻底平息叛乱。现拉萨地区的叛乱已被迅速荡平,我军正继续向其它一些地区的残余叛匪进行扫荡中。连日来,全国各地人民,包括西藏僧俗各界人民在内,纷纷举行集会,一致声讨西藏叛国集团的滔天罪行,拥护国务院为维护国家统一和民族团结所采取的英明措施。
(Report from a comprehensive press release) Tibet’s local government and the reactionary clique at the upper-class level violated the Tibetans’ will, betrayed the motherland, colluded with imperialism, mobilized the rebels, hijacked the Dalai Lama and publicly launched an armed insurgency. In order to safeguard the reunification of the motherland and national unity, the State Council has issued an order to dissolve the local government in Tibet that is planning the insurgency. The Tibet Autonomous Region Preparatory Commission will take the post of the local government and will instruct the People’s Liberation Army [PLA] Tibet Military Region to completely quell the insurgency. Now that the insurgencies in Lhasa have been swiftly wiped out, our army is continuing to sweep the remaining rebel bands in other areas. In recent days, people all over the country, including monks and lay people from all walks of life in the country, have held rallies unanimously to condemn the heinous crimes committed by Tibet’s treasonous groups and supported the wise measures taken by the State Council to safeguard national unification and national unity.
