王梦鸥先生今年90高寿,俨然是台湾大师级学者和著名文艺理论家,但他至今仍将半个多世纪前在厦门大学的那段经历,视为其生命中最可珍贵的回忆。 台湾报刊资料一般称王先生于1940年起任教于厦大。但据笔者稽考,王先生在1938年春即已来过长汀(当时厦大因抗战爆发而内迁闽赣交界的山城长汀)。该年3月23日出版的厦大教师筹资创办的刊物《唯力》第2期上刊出了王先生的两首诗。其一《龙岩道中》写道:
Mr. Wang Meng-gu’s 90th birthday this year is like a master scholar in Taiwan and a well-known literary theorist. However, he still regards the experience of Xiamen University as more than half a century ago as the most precious memory of his life. Taiwan press information generally said Mr. Wang from 1940 to teach at Xiamen University. However, according to the author’s testimony, Mr. Wang had been in Changting in the spring of 1938 (when Xiamen was forced to move into Changting, a mountain town at the junction of Fujian and Jiangxi due to the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan). Mr. Wang’s two poems were published in the second issue of “Weili”, a publication sponsored by Xiamen University Teachers, which was published on March 23 of that year. One of the “Longyan Road” wrote:
