日前我去探望胡道静公,据他告知:在华东师大校园建有逸夫楼,去年12月上旬曾假座于此隆重举行“庆贺李约瑟90寿辰暨中国科技史讨论会”。这不由使我想起李约瑟与蔡天石的一段金石缘,双方这个未曾谋面的佳话,乃是我在《少年科学》月刊供职时作的媒传。李约瑟博士是世界著名学者,担任英国剑桥东亚科学史图书馆馆长。早在1937年,他由一位杰出的生物化学家改行学习中文,潜心献身于中国科学技术史的研究,第一部全面系统地论述中国科技史的巨著《中国科学技术史》,于50年代问世后即引起全球效应,有11个国家
