The future trend of Taiwan’s economic policy will be to expand public investment as a means to promote private investment so as to give a modest economic growth. Taiwan’s “Ministry of Economic Affairs” proposed in its newly released White Paper on Economic Policy that by the year 2000, Taiwan will develop into a transportation and transportation center, a financial center and a scientific and technological center in the western Pacific, making itself one of the top five IC industrial regions in the world.
