Contents and Characteristics of U.S. Social Security Plans (I) Contents of U.S. Social Security Plans The United States social security plan includes the following four aspects: (1) elderly, survivors, disability insurance (OAS-DI); (2) medical insurance; (3) unemployment insurance; (4) supplementary income protection plan. The social security plan was proposed by the Roosevelt administration in 1934 and the Social Security Act of 1935 was formally established.
