The indirect determination of partial pressure of arterial carbon dioxide by repeated respiration method can not only prevent arterial puncture, but also is a rapid and reliable gas analysis method. The principle, operation, calculation and the like of this method have been reported in the literature. However, most of the methods are introduced by means of an infrared or thermal conductivity gas analyzer. Since such instruments are expensive and not readily available, they have not been widely applied clinical.
