Objective To explore the effects of internet health education on the quality of life and upper limb function in postoperative patients with breast cancer. Methods Ninety patients with breast cancer admitted to Affiliated Medical School of a University of Henan Province from February to December 2014 were randomly divided into two groups (n = 45 in each of the intervention group and the control group) using random number table. Breast cancer patients in the intervention group conducted online health education in the form of online video. The main educational contents were postoperative knowledge of breast cancer and regular follow-up visits of breast cancer specialists; while the control group of breast cancer patients only conducted routine health education Management model, that is, disseminating breast cancer brochures by breast cancer patients to learn. Measurement data using t test, count data using χ2 test, P <0.05 for the difference was statistically significant. Results After 18 months, the excellent and good rate of shoulder function intervention group was 82.2% in both breast cancer patients and 22.2% in control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Neer score, quality of life score and self-management score of disease [(90.3 ± 6.9), (75.4 ± 6.3), (81.4 ± 6.1) points] in intervention group after 18 months were higher than that in control group [(46.2 ± 6.3) ), (60.3 ± 7.1) and (60.2 ± 6.7) points, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups (all P <0.05). Conclusion Network health education can improve the quality of life of patients with breast cancer and reduce the incidence of breast cancer complications.
