In Canada, the safety of pressure-bearing equipment, like some other special problems, is usually governed by local governments, and pressure-bearing equipment in rail, sea, air transport and installed in federal agencies is not the case. Pressure-bearing equipment for rail, sea and air transport is administered by the Canadian Department of Transportation and the Dangerous Goods Transportation Board, while the boilers and pressure vessels installed in federal agencies are administered by the federal government. However, there is a peace treaty between the federal government of Canada and the provincial and local governments whose inspection is to be carried out by provincial and local inspectors in accordance with the respective government regulations. Due to the safety of pressure-bearing equipment subject to provincial and local jurisdiction, the provincial and local ministries have legislation on boilers and pressure vessels. These laws are usually tailored to the requirements for the design, manufacture and operation of pressure-bearing equipment in the province or area. In fact there are ten provinces and two regions in Canada for it
