The structure and process of the developed liquid gallium ion source are described and the relationship between the current and the extraction voltage of the ion source, the relationship between the current and the temperature, the brightness and the like are tested and discussed.The performance of the ion source has been reached: brightness = 1.3 × 10 ~ (12) mA / cm ~ 2 · rad ~ 2 (measured in α = 8 ° 30 ’); threshold voltage about 5kV; life span> 50 hours.
