保定名胜古迹直隶总督署里,有座戒石坊。戒石坊又称“公生明”牌坊,在仪门里沿甬道往北距大堂约40米,牌坊为木质四柱三顶结构。牌坊南向刻有北宋黄庭坚书写的“公生明”三个大字。意思是大公无私方能清正廉洁,即所谓“公生明,偏生暗”。北向亦刻有黄庭坚手书“尔俸尔禄,民膏民脂,下民易虐,上天难欺”。每当职官升堂,面对此石,戒铭时时在目,以告诫如徇私
