Objective: To investigate the prevalence, prevalence and risk factors of diabetes mellitus in Shantou SAR and to provide evidence for the development of diabetes prevention and control programs in Shantou. Methods: A stratified cluster random sampling method was used to collect 2041 people from 3 neighborhoods of “Guangsha Street” in Shantou Special Administrative Region and 510 natural persons in 1 neighborhood of suburban counties. Data were collected through questionnaires and physical measurements. According to the American Diabetes In 1997, the association of screening fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and postprandial plaglucose (PPG) in any undiagnosed group of high-risk diabetic patients was screened by the American Diabetes Association in 1997 Diabetes diagnosis standards, using SPSS10.0 software package to establish a database and statistical analysis. Results: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus, impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucosetolerance (IGT) in residents of Shantou was 3.67%, 2.16% and 3.82% respectively, both of which increased with advancing age. The prevalence of over 45 years old women Significantly higher than men, accounting for 69.23% of newly diagnosed diabetes patients, hypertension prevalence and overweight + obesity prevalence and diabetes prevalence were significantly correlated. Conclusion: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus and diabetes is high in Shantou SAR with more patients, severe situation and rather serious and urgent prevention and treatment tasks.
