Some researchers believe that the muscle-type appliance orthopedic force can act on the maxillary, by inhibiting maxillary growth to correct Class Ⅱ malocclusion. The aim of the authors was to measure the magnitude of sagittal intermaxillary force during wear of a muscular agonist appliance. Materials and Methods The subjects were 10 patients with Class Ⅱ skeletal Class Ⅱ Division 1 malocclusion, high short below, and no signs of temporomandibular disorder. Muscle activators are modified Harrold type, each having a parallel (occlusal) plane occlusal pad in both the upper and lower jaws. (Occlusal) Pad contact surface highly polished, free to slide.
